TYPICAL
FUSECOTE SPECIFICATION
Fusion bonded powder
coating to be applied by electrostatic deposition
in designated areas to a minimum thickness of .008
inch and cured in accordance with power manufacturers
specifications. Reference as appropriate the Fusecote
Quality Control Manual, 3M Stotchkote Fusion Bonded
powder data.
Surface
preparation: blast to a SSPC 10 (NACE
2) bare white metal surface with a minimum .002
inch profile using #36 oxide aluminum grit or equivalent.
Clean parts to be held in low humidity clean room
no longer than 16 hours before processing. No contact
with skin, oily tooling or dirty pallets is permitted
prior to coating, i.e. clean metal tooling only
shall come in contact with surface to be coated.
All areas to be kept free of coating shall be prepared
with FUSECOTE RELEASE AGENT or masking as required
prior to coating.
Quality control manual
and special instruction procedures to accompany
job card and work orders. A test panel of metal
similar to job component shall accompany parts throughout
Fusecoting process for purposes of quality control
and as a provision for testing. A check for coating
integrity shall be made using a Tinker Rasor 67½
volt wet sponge holiday detector. Coating thickness
shall be confirmed with DeFelsko series 6000 gage.
A 600 volt AC hi-pot Arc test shall be performed
with no appearance of bright white Arc in evidence.
A Rock Island Arsenal (160 lbs.-in) impact test
shall be performed and be in evidence on accompanying
test panel with no chipping or other coating damage
visible.
